Parker's Bedtime Story

As usual, Parker asked for a story after he got into bed. I told him of a time when I was a kid, on a family reunion around a camp fire. One of us saw a cool stick on the ground. When someone went to pick it up, they noticed it move. It turned out to be a 'baby' rattle snake.
Parker and I were talking about how Rattle snakes make the rattle when they want us to get away, and how we should get away. He then began talking about his favorite kind of snake, the King Cobras and how they will sometimes fight people.
"But they don't fight for freedom," he said. "They fight for their health, for their selfs."
"That's right," I said. "Now go to sleep."
